WHAT IS FACIAL ACUPUNCTURE?

Originating in China and spreading throughout East Asia over 6,000 years ago, Acupuncture is used as part of Asia's primary healthcare system. Traditionally, Acupuncture is a preventive form of healthcare and is effective for the prevention of and the treatment of acute and chronic conditions, for the relief of pain, pain management, sports injury, trauma and as an anesthetic for surgery. Now Acupuncture has popular use for face lifts. The New York Times Sunday edition, September 4, 2004, ran an article on Facial Acupuncture for the removal of wrinkles as the choice of many Hollywood stars. It has become a standard choice for facial improvements, from fine lines and increasing collagen production, to sagging eyelids. It is also important for decreasing symptoms of Bell's palsy, stroke and neuralgia.

The ancients had a saying, "You are responsible for your face after 50." They also believed in longevity and sought after it. Long life is supported by exercise, rest, proper eating habits, ingesting of herbs, good elimination, sufficient fluids and the general balance of Body/Mind/Emotions. This is coupled with good thoughts and good intentions, which then frees one's Spirit, Shen, into a state of Harmony.

Facial Acupuncture effects the entire body because all the energy channels (meridians) pass through the face. Facial Acupuncture gives one a 'natural glow", a relaxed facial expression, increases energy and improves circulation to the entire face and neck. It reduces a fatigued expression and retards aging by stimulating the blood flow to the facial tissue. Without a doubt, Facial Acupuncture Rejuvenation is the boost to the face we seek when we want to look our best.

Facial Acupuncture is a natural acupressure,"Chi Lift". Facial Acupuncture rejuvenates facial tissue and gives the face a bright and alert appearance. In ancient times, Acupuncture was given to facial areas and was originally intended to address 'constitutional imbalances'. In current times, Facial Acupuncture is a treatment unto itself.

Acupuncture literally means "needle piercing". Very fine needles (25 millimeters thick), the approximate thickness of two human hairs, are inserted at a very shallow depth (132 of an inch) in highly charged, empirical points (acu means point) on specific meridians (energy channels) of the face and body.

A variety of points may be selected. Tiny needles are placed in the ears, face, neck and around the mouth. This is done after the patient is 'rooted by a constitutional treatment'. Constitutional treatments address inherent bodily imbalances. Points in the legs, feet, hands, arms and trunk of the body are stimulated. Both meridians (energy pathways) and acupuncture points interconnect with the entire body system and its functioning. "Meridian flow" passes through the head from other areas of the body. "The 365 connecting vessels all rise to the head". Therefore, constitutional facial acupuncture benefits the entire body's system and elevates the immune system.

FACIAL ACUPUNCTURE LIFTS THE FACE THROUGH MUSCLE REJUVENATION
Facial Acupunture lifts the face through muscle rejuvenation and its tightening action on pores and facial tissue. The face literally 'glows'. Bodily syslems and energy (Chi) - Vital Life Force - are stimulated. Circulation of blood and lymph improves, facial color and collagen productions are enhanced. Fine lines may be entirely erased. Deeper lines are reduced and baggy eyes and neck are firmed up. Facial points and the entire body are simultaneously being stimulated.

OUR FACE MIRRORS OUR PHYSICAL AND MENTAL EMOTIONAL STATE
Because the body is interconnected with our feelings and thoughts, our face mirrors our physical, mental and emotional states. An old Chinese saying states "A person is responsible for his (her) face after 50 years old", and if we look at the ancients who took care of themselves by "right eating", "righting thinking", "right movement", they have an ageless quality to their faces. They must have been doing something right! TREATMENT PROTOCOL
A normal treatment regiment will consist of twelve consecutive treatments once or twice weekly. Frequency of visit is dependent on the condition of the individual's skin and general health. You are greeted by a relaxed atmosphere as you lie down for your first "Constitutional Acupuncture". Following this visit you commence with your facial regiment. The facial area is cleansed. Tiny needles 1/2 inch in length are placed in seleted points on the face and neck. You will relax for twenty minutes. Afterwards the needles will be removed and an herbal poultice mask will be applied for ten minutes, then the face is cleansed with some acupressure massage.

It is important to follow course of treatments in order to reap the benenefits. The effects of the treatments can last with scheduled "booster treatments" as well as following suggestions for homecare which include cleansing, Facial Acupressure, skin foods, herbs, essential oils, exercise and other lifesyle measures.
